So, you want to develop a product but you’re not sure where to start. Ask around and most people will tell you that you have to get ahead of the game. I disagree. Rather than looking forward, I suggest you try looking BACK.

When it comes to creating new products and developing new services for your clients, look into the future past. What services are your clients requesting from you? Do you find yourself doing things over and over that could be written down and turned into a “system” or a group-coaching program?

Here are three great ways to take your old ideas and information and turn them into fresh, new products.

1. Write a book. That’s right. I said it. Write a book. It’s really not as hard as it seems. Do you have a blog or a newsletter? Look back through your blog posts and find 5 or 10 related posts, expand on them some, format ‘er up a little bit and BAM! eBook. How easy was that? All that’s left is the promotions.

2. Don’t reinvent the wheel – repurpose it! After you’ve written your eBook, further develop it into a teleseminar or a webinar. Teach your clients the information you offer in your Special eBook as an in-depth, personalized course. Create videos or get a bridge line and conduct coaching sessions.

3. Do you already offer teleseminars or webinars? Hellooooo – audio products! Was your teleseminar a bust? Maybe your promotions didn’t hit the right crowd, or you didn’t get the attendance or registration numbers you wanted. This is your second chance! Get out of that dark place and start promoting the recording as a product! Or, maybe you were a wild success. Great! Take that recording and keep the success going. Offer it as an audio download or sell the physical CD.

Don’t fall into believing that every product you offer has to be a huge new venture. Get everything you can out of the material you’ve got on hand. And, repurposing existing material isn’t just about expanding your product line. For example, some people work really well within a teleseminar setting while others prefer an eBook that they can print out and hold in their hands. Using a variety of techniques to get your message gives your clients the ability to choose the method that works best for them. It’s a win-win!
