Happy Tuesday (and Heart Day!),Hello my dear readers – and happy heart day! Here, have some virtual chocolate – it’s calorie free! :-)

SO – this past week HAS to have broken some sort of record for the amount of ridiculousness that i’ve seen via the web.

First up: Teenage girls acts inappropriately on Facebook; dad shoots her laptop via youtube video; the world goes CRAZY (his youtube video had almost 22 million views, as I was writing this. By the time I went back to spell check my ezine and test the links, there were over 90k more!) What baffles me about this is the responses from the general public – on both sides of the issue. AND that he’s been offered his own reality show. That’s hilarious (which – he’s not taking).

Second: Technology is great – you can use it to instantly access most anything. But, the internet is not a replacement for your brain. Comment sense and accountability – there is no app for that! Even though it might seem cool to “like”, re-post, or re-share what you see online, or get in your email, try not doing it until you are sure you have your facts right. Case in point: there is no $8 billion abortion-plex (as mistakenly reported by Congressman John Fleming). Really. There isn’t. Even if you saw it online. And since my husband cranked out this blog post faster than I did…here are the pretty hilarious details.

Anyway – Point: just because technology makes it possible for us to instantly push out information to anyone, doesn’t mean you should. :-) .

4 things for you today:

1. Recently on the Blog: What the Heck is Content SEO, Anyway?

Content is the text you post to your blog or website…Duh, thanks for nothing! (Be patient, young grasshopper!). Content SEO, on the other hand, is the practice of making your text easy to find for the search engines, as well as relevant to the search they are performing.

How do the search engines do it?

First, you need to know that Google, and the other search engines, don’t actually search the web every time a search term is typed into the search box. They search their servers. Huh…?

That’s right, Google and all the others have literally millions of servers around the world which are constantly “crawling” the web for content relevant to search terms they’ve stored in their systems. They could never search the entire web for you as quickly as they do if every search was a new one. With literally billions of websites to search, there is just too much information out there. Plus, they rank the quality of the info they deliver to you and that takes time too. So, they store it up for you and everyone else, and make it available in seconds. Cool, huh?

4. Quote of the week

I’m reading Winnie-the-Pooh with my oldest son now. And not JUST Winnie-the-Pooh, but THE Winnie-the-Pooh book that was mine when I was a kid. Yellowing book pages and all. It’s very fun.

SO – we were reading chapter two – “In Which Pooh Goes Visiting and Gets Into a Tight Place”. The cliff note summary is that Pooh goes to visit Rabbit, and gets stuck trying to go out the front door. He argues that he is stuck because Rabbit’s door isn’t big enough, and Rabbit points out that “one of us was eating too much…and I knew it wasn’t me”. Anyway, Rabbit runs to get Christopher Robin, who, after carefully assessing the situation, announces that it takes precisely one week to get thin and they will just have to wait it out (they will read to him, but no meals).

One of my favorite parts, is when Rabbit finally accepts that Winnie-the-Pooh’s backside is just going be stuck in his front door for the rest of the week, and says:

“And I say, old fellow – you’re taking up a good deal of room in my house – do you mind if I use your back legs as a towel-horse? Because, I mean, there they are — doing nothing — and it would be very convenient just to hang the towels on them.”

That Rabbit…such an opportunist. At first I wasn’t sure whether to think he was annoying, or admire his forthrightness. I’m leaning toward admiration.

That’s all I have for you this week – ‘see’ you next week!

Wishing you success and productivity in your day,
